  • A Lieberian boy suffering from severe malnutrition is weighed at the Action Contre La Faim (Action without Anger), theraputic feeding centre for the treatment of severe malnutrition, Monrovia 02 August 2003. The French aid organistation has been in Liberia since 1991 and says emergency food supplies are available here but the other moderate theraputic clinics have only 2 weeks worth of food. The World Food Programme food store has some 10 000 tons of food but is not accesible due to it being in rebel controlled teritory in Freeport, Monrovia.<br />

This is day six of continued fighting in the capital which has seen thousands displaced and more than 600 dead.The fighting is centered around 2 strategic bridges, the New and Old bridge, which provide access to the city.<br />
